REPORTS CLAIM ALESSANDRO BASTONI HAS VERBALLY AGREED TO JOIN BARCELONA THIS SUMMER WINDOW
Is Alessandro Bastoni on his way to Barcelona? Explore the verbal agreement reports, Inter's firm stance, and the latest transfer updates.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport via SPORT, FC Barcelona is making noticeable progress toward signing Alessandro Bastoni for their upcoming sporting project.
A preliminary arrangement has been settled between the Italian defender and the Catalan club, covering the next five seasons through 2031.
Formal discussions between the two clubs are expected very soon, with Barcelona aiming to wrap up the deal ahead of the FIFA World Cup, considering it one of their primary transfer targets.
The key hurdle now revolves around narrowing the financial gap in Bastoni’s valuation, though all sides are actively working toward finding common ground.
Regarding Bastoni’s stance, the report suggests he’s ready to leave Inter, with the Italian club well aware of the situation and the player’s intentions. He’s hoping for a smooth exit and anticipates that negotiations will conclude successfully within the next few weeks.
In past seasons, Bastoni had received notable offers but asked Inter not to pursue them. This time, however, he has shifted his approach, leaving the decision between the two clubs.
Barcelona’s offer is described as ambitious and consistent with signing a player they see as a key figure. The defender would gain a significant salary boost and become part of a long-term plan, effectively ruling out contract renewal with Inter.
Still, Bastoni has made it clear that if no deal is reached between the clubs, he would stay at Inter without issue. His options appear limited to either Inter or Barcelona, with his current lean toward the La Liga side.
As for Inter and Barcelona, they need to come to terms. Inter remained quiet on the matter until recently, when their sporting director Piero Ausilio encouraged Barcelona to make a concrete move.
Barcelona’s interest has been known for months through Bastoni’s representatives, but only now are official contacts taking place.
Inter values Bastoni at around €70 million and is open to a deal involving a lower fixed fee plus add-ons, though this formula doesn’t fit with Barcelona’s preferences.
Instead, Barcelona aims for a figure between €45 and €50 million, potentially including a promising young player valued at over €10 million as part of the package.
Names like Hector Fort have come up, with Inter showing interest in Roony Bardghji and goalkeeper Aron Yaakobishvili, who’s currently performing well on loan at Andorra.
AS ROMA SUBMITS SIGNIFICANT PERSONAL TERMS OFFER FOR OSASUNA STAR VICTOR MUNOZ
AS Roma have made an offer to Victor Munoz. Discover the Real Madrid buyback clause and the Barcelona return rumours for the star.
Victor Munoz's future is set to spark conversation in Spain this summer, with the Osasuna winger making quite an impression in his first season in La Liga. At 22, he debuted for La Roja last month and even scored in his first match, showcasing notable talent at El Sadar.
There’s buzz around his former club, Barcelona, showing interest, but Real Madrid might also try to bring him back to the Bernabeu. They hold a 50% sell-on stake and a buyback option on Munoz, who currently has a €40 million release clause at Osasuna. Word is they would likely block any transfer to Barcelona.
Osasuna themselves have already turned down a €25 million bid from Sunderland in January and seem set to face further Premier League offers. Interestingly, Munoz recently switched agents, signing with a firm closely linked to Barcelona, which only adds to speculation about where he might end up.
Now, the Italian side AS Roma has entered the picture. Jose Alvarez from El Chiringuito reports they’ve made an offer to Munoz, focusing on personal terms. Roma appears ready to invest significantly in the speedy winger; there’s talk of a possible €35 million price tag. Despite the interest, Munoz isn’t rushing to decide on his next move.
Alvarez also mentions Munoz’s openness to returning to Barcelona if the opportunity arises. Being a Barcelona native, with family still in the city and some relatives working at the Ciutat Esportiva training complex, it’s a tempting prospect for him. However, Real Madrid’s likely interference remains a hurdle. Whenever Osasuna receives offers for Munoz, they must notify Real Madrid, who have 48 hours to respond with a counteroffer.
WHY LORENZO PELLEGRINI’S FUTURE AT ROMA HANGS IN THE BALANCE THIS SUMMER SEASON
AS Roma director Frederic Massara gives an update on Lorenzo Pellegrini’s expiring contract. Is a Juventus move on the cards for him?
Lorenzo Pellegrini recently spoke about his strong connection with Juventus manager Luciano Spalletti, while Roma’s director Frederic Massara hinted that extending the midfielder’s contract remains a possibility.
Pellegrini’s deal with Roma is set to expire this June, alongside contracts for Paulo Dybala, Stephan El Shaarawy, and Zeki Celik.
Regarding updates on contract extensions through 2026, Massara mentioned during the Inside The Sport 2026 event, as reported by Calciomercato.com, that discussions are ongoing with all four players and their agents. He noted the club has been addressing these matters in recent weeks and will evaluate if there is mutual interest and suitable conditions to continue working together. Essentially, nothing is decided yet.
This season at the Stadio Olimpico, Pellegrini has experienced some highs and lows but still managed to appear in 33 matches across all competitions, contributing seven goals and four assists.
Roma remain contenders for a Champions League spot but currently sit five points behind Juventus, who occupy fourth place.
Pellegrini expressed his wish for a top-four finish with Roma, emphasising that the focus has been on the team’s own performance rather than the standings. He acknowledged the current situation isn’t entirely within their control, so the best course is to concentrate on winning the remaining games and see how things unfold.
The well-publicised clash between Claudio Ranieri and Gian Piero Gasperini seems to have further energised Roma’s coach, according to Pellegrini. He described Spalletti as even more motivated heading into the final stretch, stressing the importance of being in peak form on the pitch to tackle upcoming challenges.
There have been rumours linking Pellegrini with Juventus as they seek to strengthen their midfield options. The Italian international established a strong rapport with Spalletti during the coach’s second tenure at Roma.
Pellegrini wrapped up by reaffirming his positive relationship with Spalletti, recalling the great moments they shared and his respect not only for the coach’s tactical abilities but also for his character beyond the field.
